You have purchased what we believe to be the finest Solar Control Film available. The
use of our solar film will allow you to enjoy the sun, without the most harmful effects of
its rays.
Suntamers films require a reasonable curing time to facilitate a proper bond to the glass.
During this curing time, some normal changes may be noticed. The following is a list of
things that may occur:
- Curing time will be approximately 30 days for aluminum based films, 90 days for
Stainless Steel, Ceramic, and Silver/Shiny films. 8 mil Armorcoat films take up
to 3-4 months. Drying times vary depending on exposure to heat, direct sunlight,
and humidity. During winter, the drying time slows considerably. Windows
should not be washed for the first 30 days during this period.
- You may notice haziness or a smoky/milky appearance; this will quickly disappear
as the water evaporates from under the film.
- All water bubbles will dry out, but a few small particles may be seen from the
exterior after the curing has been completed. Generally these particles cannot be
noticed from a reasonable distance. These particles can be attributed to pinhead
sized translucent globules of adhesive or detackifier that have not cured to proper
clarity.
- On occasion the installer may capture a grain of sand or an airborne particle, such
as dust or hair, which cannot be eliminated. Please keep in mind we are not in a
“clean room” environment. You may expect the film to highlight imperfections in
the glass with the addition of reflective film.
- You may notice a thin, distinct white line (exposed glass area) between the film
and the edge of the frame. This is a normal installation practice needed for proper
film adhesion to the glass.
- In situations involving the installation of film on abnormally large pieces of glass,
it may be necessary to splice two panels of film together. In such a case, all care
will be taken to blend the seam with the aesthetics of the building.
- Cleaning can be done with a soft towel, soft paper towels or an old t-shirt. Never
use abrasive materials. A good cleaning solution is four drops of Lemon Joy, two
oz. rubbing alcohol to one pint of water. Never use ammonia products. Vinegar
window cleaners are fine.
Sometimes a customer feels that they see a defect in the film, when in fact it is in
the glass. It is quite natural that we look closely at a new purchase, but at times
we see things that were there but never noticed. Observe the installation from
four to five feet away. This is the way we normally look through a window and is
the way you should observe the window film.
